Zoe Rose ~ 10 months

zoe 10 months

Is it me or do the last few months of the year tend to pass more quickly than the first half of the year?  It’s almost like as soon as Labor Day passes, the rest of the year goes by in a blink.  This is certainly how I feel about Zoe’s last couple of months.  I mean, how is it possible that my baby will be a year old in two short months?

Our little lady became a transcontinental traveler this month.  Her passport now boasts stamps from Mexico, Germany and France. Zoe probably handled the time changes and flying best of all of us, spending the majority of our trip, including the five flights, snuggled closely in the Ergo carrier.  She loved the food in France and now refuses pretty much all pureed foods, even those that are supposed to be smooth like yogurt or apple sauce.  Most nights, Zoe easily out eats Jamie at the dinner table.

Zoe’s personality is starting to really shine thru. She’s very bubbly and friendly but do not get on her bad side or she’ll let you have it.  Her scowl is mainly reserved for her brother when he takes back one of his toys that she’s playing with or for me when I take something away that she isn’t supposed to be chewing on or eating.

Believe it or not, our daughter is still a toothless wonder.  Zoe’s teeth are certainly taking their sweet time in coming in but if you look in her mouth I think once they do cut thru she’ll be getting a whole bunch in short succession.  Another milestone she has yet to conquer is crawling but the girl is determined to get moving.  Once on her tummy she does this funny inch-worm type movement pushing her tush up as high as possible then wiggling her toes in an attempt to propel forward.   her favorite motivator for crawling is whatever Jamie is building with his Legos or a laptop computer.

If you look closely at the pictures from this past month, especially our trip (I’ll post about that soon, promise), you’ll notice that Zoe’s hair has completely grown in and is starting to get long.  I was able to put her hair up in a Pebbles Flintstone style ponytail last week and she now wakes up with tangles in the back from moving around in her sleep.  I must brush her hair every time she wakes up.  Accessorizing her is is incredibly fun and now required since she can’t see if I don’t do something with her hair.  Although her brother got his first haircut at this age, she won’t be going to get a trim for a long time.

I’m starting to think of how we should celebrate Zoe’s birthday and am wondering if any of you have holiday season birthdays? Did you prefer to celebrate a few weeks late, after the holiday hoopla passes or celebrate on the actual day and add to the holiday chaos?  But seriously, how is it almost her birthday!?!?!
